Balance

...mental steadiness or emotional stability; habit of calm behavior, judgment, etc.

do you feel like you will EVER find this? i feel really out of whack right now. i don't know if it's because a new semester started so my schedule is all different; or if it's PMS; or if it's just something i can't put into words. either way, i feel sorta lost.

it's a struggle some days to make my mind focus on the fact that i'm doing this all for a reason. i want to better my career, i want to better our financial situation, i want to better myself. it's hard to justify sometimes all the time i'm spending away from my husband and son. either i'm at work, at class, or on the treadmill. i think in an average week day, i get to spend time with little dude maybe 3 hours. it's not enough.

i feel like i'm being pulled into a million different directions and i am so afraid i'm going to fall apart.

i think i want to do too much.

maybe i should have put my half marathon dreams on hold and just run to lose the weight to meet my goal.

maybe i should have been more patient and not try to take a full load of credits while working full time.

maybe i just need a vacation!

i know one day this all will be worth it. when i graduate from school next spring, we will be selling our house {which is going to be hard since we designed it ourselves}, moving closer to hubby's job, hopefully i'll be starting a new job, buying a new house, planning a new addition to the fam, and the list goes on...

i long for a time where things will slow down. a time where all i will have to concentrate on is my family and my dream job, with running races on the side.

i hope me and balance will be BFF one day...

The Bachelor

Eeeeeek! This season ROCKS. Are any of you watching this? I know I'm crazy, but it sucked me in big time. The psycho lady is gone! The psycho lady is gone! I really hope she gets some help. She needs it.

I am still not sure about Vienna. I was starting to like her, but then she is getting all clingy. She totally would have had him if she played it cool. But I think she's going home next week....along with Ali. I don't like her either. She reminds me of the blonde popular cheerleader in high school. If she ever talked to me like she talks to Vienna, I'd slap her good.

My favorite right now is Tenley {sp?}. She seems very sweet.

Thoughts???

Happy Tuesday!

Mary's Gone Crackers

Happy Friday!

I wanted to brag about my new favorite cracker. It's light, it's crunchy, it's YUMMY. If you are like me and you need that extra crunch in your snack to satisfy your craving, then you need to try these. I found them at my food co-op where we get all our organic, natural foods. I eat these either with hummus or cottage cheese. A fabulous snack, or even a meal. Let me know if you have tried these! I would love to hear what you think of them.

Tequila and Salt

I got the following Forward in my email. I thought it was a wonderful thing to read!

I think we all need to read something like this every day...

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.

2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.

3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.

4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.

5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.

6. You mean the world to someone.

7. You are special and unique.

8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.

9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.

10. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take another look.

11. Always remember the compliments you received...Forget about the rude remarks.

And always remember...when life hands you lemons, ask for Tequila and Salt and call me over!

Good friends are like stars...
You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.

"Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway"

I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm here than a whole truck load when I'm gone.

Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keeps You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going

Drink This!
by Jenny Hadfield

When I Run I…

~Feel sluggish and tired~
If this is you, sip a cup of green tea 20 to 30 minutes before you run. The caffeine will pep you up and power you through to the last step, and its antioxidants may help with endurance, too.

~Always get a side stitch~
…try coconut water; it’s chock-full of cramp-preventing potassium (15 times that of most sports drinks) and has less than 50 calories per cup. Try 8 oz. before or during your run to stay pain-free.

~Get really sore the next day~
…try chocolate milk. With its perfect ratio of carbs to protein {plus the calcium}, chocolate milk is an excellent way to help your muscles recover postworkout. Drink a cup within 30 mins of finishing a long run, when muscles are most receptive.

~Sweat a lot~
…try a sports drink, with body-replenishing sugars and electrolytes. This is the best way to stay hydrated. Choose one that’s free of artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. Sip 4 to 6 oz. every 15 to 20 mins during your workout.

Hey Hey Hey!

Welcome to my new blog! This blog is going to be dedicated to my journey of becoming the most fit, most healthy Allyson I can be. I will focus on running, health, living green, and eating organic. I have a ton of information that I want to share and hope I can inspire you to join me on this fabulous ride.

The year 2009 was when I started this process. So far I've lost a total of 20lbs, with 15lbs left to go. I completed my very first road race, a 5K, where I finally realized running is now a permanent part of who I am. I am hooked.

Please stay tuned...
